A Reason for our Hope: 30 Years of Living Faith

Always be ready to give an explanation to anyone who asks you for a reason for your hope.  1 Peter 3:15

In the summer of 1982, The Catholic Community of Saint Charles Borromeo became the first parish to be founded in the newly created Diocese of Metuchen.  Named for the baptismal patron of Pope John Paul II, the parish has grown from a rural farming community to a suburban parish. This Fall, we have begun the observance of our 30th Anniversary.  We have taken as our theme the words from the First Letter of Peter.  Throughout these years, our parish has given an explanation for our hope through prayer, through a rich liturgical life, through the formation of families and youth, through prayer and study, through service and witness. Our yearlong celebration began with the 30 for 30 Anniversary Honoree & Cocktail Evening. The video above was created by parishioner Kelly Stephenson and shown during the course of the evening to honor and highlight the people, the ministries and the history of Saint Charles.

St. Charles Borromeo’s mission and vision is simple: Offering you a Catholic experience that leads you to a deeper understanding of Jesus Christ so others may experience the Love of God.

We asked a few parishioners to share with you what their experience of ‘mission and vision

has been  here at St. Charles Borromeo:

Saint Charles' mission is very straight forward and simple: to bring people closer to God. Through the collaboration of our pastoral leader, staff and laity, the parish strives to meet the spiritual, educational and social needs of this Catholic community.  At the same time, we are reminded of our obligations as Christians, and are challenged to fulfill them and provided with opportunities to do so.”   - Parishioner Paul Disdier

"As shepherds of our Lord, we rejoice in being a diverse community united in faith in Christ Jesus. We strive to bring Good News of God’s love in all areas of our lives through our devotion, leadership, spiritual vocations and outreach efforts within our community. "   - Parishioner Patrick Omieno

"The Mission of the Catholic Community of Saint Charles Borromeo is to bring about the Kingdom of God on earth through participation in the sacraments and other opportunities for communal prayer; by developing meaningful relationships between and among each other, the universal church,  and, our God. By reaching out in service and support of our neighbors near and far, and by working for justice in accordance with Catholic social teaching."   - Parishioner Erin Dolan

Only someone who has encountered Christ within is able to see the mission of Christ.                  May your experience of  St. Charles echo the words of Christ.

    WELCOME TO SAINT CHARLES
